Jesus Christ the Redeemer is a famous statue that has been built in Rio de Janeiro. The statue is located on top of 700 meters high mountain – Largo do Machado. This part of the city is called “Lapa”, which means “Pasture”.

The sculpture was designed by German sculptor, Heinrich hoffman and his assistant, Josef Capek.The construction lasted for 4 years, from 1922 to 1926 and now it’s at the place where people can see it from far away.To date, the statue is one of the biggest in the world. Its height is 38m and weighs 635 tons.
